MOORPARK : County Expected to Approve Clinic Head

Ventura County Medical Center physician Richard Ashby will be selected to operate the hospital’s satellite clinic in Moorpark under an agreement being considered by supervisors Tuesday.

The Board of Supervisors is expected to approve a $306,000 agreement to operate the facility at 6559 Princeton Ave., which is under construction.

The county Health Care Agency operated a clinic on Front Street for a number of years before structural problems with the building forced its closure earlier this year, Ashby said.

“When we closed, we were seeing upwards of 50 patients a week,” he said. “But we expect that to be markedly increased with the larger facility and more physician providers.”

Construction for the new building, a single-story office of about 2,000 square feet, was approved by the Board of Supervisors earlier this year. Ashby said the office would be open by late this year or early next year.

The satellite facility will offer patients general health care services such as pediatrics, obstetrics and family medicine, he said.
