A man sought by Arkansas authorities in connection with three slayings was arrested along with his cousin in Altadena after Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies found them with two plastic grocery bags filled with $61,500 in cash.

Joe Kelley, 31, and Anthony Kelley, 30, were taken into custody Friday and booked for investigation of robbery after they could not explain to deputies how they got the money, Deputy Irma Becerra said Sunday.

During booking, deputies learned that Joe Kelley was wanted in Little Rock in connection with the shooting deaths of three men. He was being held Sunday pending extradition proceedings.

Deputies also discovered that Anthony Kelley was wanted on a Pasadena narcotics violation. He was being held Sunday in lieu of $35,000 bail.

The men were arrested outside an apartment complex in the 600 block of Altadena Drive after deputies, who were on a routine investigation, saw them sitting in a car in the parking lot. Police spotted the bags filled with $100 and $50 bills in their vehicle, Becerra said.
