ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST: Human bones found in the forest were positively identified Tuesday as the remains of a Barley Flats campground caretaker who was last seen on June 4. The remains of 38-year-old Mario Antunez were discovered by hikers last week, sheriff’s deputies said. The cause of death had not yet been determined.

EL MONTE: A 25-year-old El Monte man arrested on suspicion of car theft and public intoxication hanged himself in his cell Tuesday morning. Officers found the man, who was not identified until relatives could be notified, hanging from a noose made from his shirt at 4:45 a.m., sheriff’s deputies said. Police placed the man in the intoxication cell at 3:20 a.m. and had checked on him at 3:45 a.m.

POMONA: A 25-year-old Pomona man was killed Friday and a 20-year-old woman and 2-year-old girl were wounded by a man who shot at them from a dark-colored pickup or utility vehicle. Alexander Golden was shot in the head and chest and died at Pomona Valley Medical Center two hours after the 8 p.m. shooting in the 2200 block of Carlton Avenue. Police said that Golden was standing in the street talking to the woman as she sat in her car with the child. A vehicle approached and several shots were fired at the victims.
