76ers Limp Into Laker Shootout

Share

The Philadelphia 76ers will be without 7-foot-6 center Shawn Bradley and key frontcourt reserve Scott Williams for at least the rest of the exhibition schedule because of injuries, a stretch that begins tonight with the GTE Everything Pages Shootout at the Forum, the two-day tournament that also includes the Lakers, Orlando Magic and Denver Nuggets.

Bradley, returning to action after sitting out the second half of his rookie season because of a dislocated left kneecap and a chipped bone, hurt his knee again Wednesday against Minnesota in Provo, Utah, and will undergo further examination. Williams, signed as a free agent during the summer, has been bothered by back spasms.

The 76ers play the Nuggets today at 5 p.m., followed by the Lakers against the Magic at 8. Saturday, winner will play winner and loser will play loser, but the Lakers are in the late game no matter what.
