LOS ANGELES COUNTY : County Sets Up 24-Hour Hot Line for Job Openings

Share

Los Angeles County has established a 24-hour job hot line that features information about openings available in all 38 departments.

“When a person looking for a county job calls this number, they will be connected by phone to a menu of employment opportunities,” said Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke.

Officials are hoping the hot line will simplify the job seeker’s search.

“When you’re looking for a job with Los Angeles County, you will no longer have to commute to the Civic Center or shuttle from department to department to stare at the bulletin boards bearing job opportunity notices,” said Michael J. Henry, the interim director of the Department of Human Resources.

Although the county has been under a hiring freeze for several years, some critical posts are exempt and are routinely filled, Henry said. Most of these positions are in the Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Health Services, each of which has about 300 positions available, Henry said. Overall, the county will have about 1,000 job openings over the next 12 months.

The phone number is (213) 351-LIST. Accessing the menu requires a touch-tone phone.
