SANTA MONICA : 2 Held in Fatal Beating of Hospital Executive
Santa Monica police have arrested two men in Panorama City on suspicion of fatally beating a 38-year-old Santa Monica hospital executive on Oct. 19.
The bound body of Edward Patrick Broderick was found in the kitchen of his Santa Monica duplex. Police said they found items from his dwelling in the apartment of Lloyd Fred Smith, 24, and Norman Tooks, Jr., 28, after the two men were arrested on Monday.
Detectives said the men were traced through fingerprints and other evidence found at Broderick’s duplex. Police said the suspects apparently selected Broderick’s home at random and ransacked the place, taking cash, a cellular phone and credit cards after killing him.
