LOS ANGELES COUNTY : 3 Area Educators Honored by National Foundation

Two Los Angeles County educators and an Orange County school principal received $25,000 apiece recently as 1994 Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award recipients.

The education excellence awards were presented last week. A banquet in honor of the winners will be held sometime this winter.

Robert Bruesch, a sixth-grade teacher at Willard Elementary School in Rosemead and mayor of the city, has 25 years experience as an educator. He was recognized for developing many of his own instructional programs and curriculum materials.

Victoria Fisher, principal of Rorimer Elementary School in Rowland Heights, has worked throughout her career to give underprivileged students a chance to fulfill their potential. Gene Bedley, principal of El Camino Real School in Orange County, has 20 years on the job. He received the award for his ability to focus on and develop children’s self-esteem.

A total of 105 awards were given nationally.
