COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : ACROSS THE NATION : Perles Acts on Fears of Former Player
Michigan State Coach George Perles got a restraining order against a former player who has raised allegations of possible NCAA rules violations. Roosevelt Wagner, the disgruntled ex-player, was quoted in the Detroit News saying he once plotted to kill Perles. “I’m concerned about one person--not me, my wife, Sally,” Perles told the Lansing State Journal.

Purdue quarterback Rick Trefzger will have reconstructive surgery on his left knee and will be sidelined the rest of the season, Coach Jim Colletto said. Trefzger tore a ligament in Saturday’s 21-21 tie with Iowa. Backup Billy Dicken will start.

Colorado State’s top two running backs are doubtful for Saturday night’s Western Athletic Conference game with Wyoming. E.J. Watson, the Rams’ leading rusher with 585 yards, is hobbled by strained muscles in his lower leg. And Leonice Brown, who has rushed for 495 yards, is suffering from a pulled hamstring.
