LOS ANGELES COUNTY : Supervisors Order Study of How to Better Treat Jurors

Share

Responding to increasing concern about the county’s jury system, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has directed county administrators to study ways to improve conditions for residents serving jury duty.

The move was prompted by a draft report completed by the county Economy and Efficiency Commission, which found that jurors “have the lowest priority in the judicial system when it comes to concern for their treatment.”

The recommendations include adding child-care facilities at courthouses, improving pay for jurors and scaling back the number of times a juror can be called for service to once every four years.
