Los Amigos improved to 8-1 and clinched a playoff berth with a 33-6 victory over visiting Bolsa Grande Friday night at Garden Grove High.

The Lobos, ranked eighth in Division VII, won their third consecutive game and can finish second in the Garden Grove League with a victory over Pacifica in the regular-season finale Thursday. Bolsa Grande (2-7, 1-4) fell from playoff contention with the loss.

The combination of junior running back Greg Fausto and senior quarterback Ape Tuato accounted for most of the Los Amigos offense.

Fausto gained 128 yards, scoring on runs of one, 23 and 22 yards and pushed his season totals to 1,090 yards rushing and 26 touchdowns. Tuato completed nine of 16 passes for 124 yards and ran six yards for a touchdown.

Los Amigos took a 7-0 lead when two Tuato completion moved the ball to the Matador one-yard line, and Fausto ran through the middle for the touchdown.

Los Amigos managed to build a 20-0 lead by halftime, thanks to Fausto’s 23-yard touchdown run around right end and a 6-yard scoring run by Tuato.

The Lobos increased their lead with a little razzle-dazzle in the third quarter. Facing fourth-and-24 at the Bolsa 32 after three consecutive negative-yardage plays, Tuato completed a pass to Warren Roberge near the right sideline at the Matador 22. Roberge flipped the ball to Fausto, who went the rest of the way for his third touchdown of the game.

Bolsa Grande’s only score came late in the third quarter when David Price found Mike Dalgleish alone over the middle for a 62-yard scoring play.
