Grant High Treated Unfairly in Coverage

Share

I would like to personally thank you for single-handedly destroying the reputation of Grant High School with such headlines as “2 Grant Students Stabbed, 1 Shot in Race Attacks” (Oct. 19).

Journalism such as this creates unnecessary fear in the minds of parents. With open enrollment, the parents of the “good” students will, out of fear, place their children in high schools other than Grant.

It appears to us, the student body, that you have singled us out. When Notre Dame had a drive-by shooting a while back, there was no front page coverage, and when race wars broke out at North Hollywood High, there were no headlines reading, “North Hollywood High--Breeding Ground for Hate Groups.”

Grant has long been a haven for students who care about their futures. However, with your article, we may no longer keep our place as a “great school.”
