Discussions Held on Raider Move to Baltimore, Partial Sale of Team

Peter Angelos, owner of the Baltimore Orioles, has had discussions with Raider owner Al Davis about moving the team to Baltimore and perhaps selling a piece of it to Maryland investors, according to a source close to the talks.

“All I can tell you is that there were discussions and it wasn’t just a passing thing,” said the source. “They were obviously substantive discussions.”

Although it has long been believed that Davis would never sell the club, these talks have involved the possibility of such a transaction. “It would strictly be a piece of the team,” the source said. “Not all of it. Al would be reserving the right of operating the team.”

A Raider official had no comment.
