Benefit to Aid Shelter for Battered Women

In West Hollywood Sunday, they will rock ‘n’ roll for the safety of battered women.

Dubbed the Domestic Violence Consciousness Fair, 11 bands--including Fem 2 Fem, Load and the Paul Korda Band--will turn up the volume and turn proceeds over to Haven Hills Family Violence Center, the San Fernando Valley’s only shelter for battered women.

Numerous performance artists--including Chuck Z and Shrimps--will also perform at the benefit, and speakers will discuss domestic violence, which according to the National Organization for Women claims the lives of 10 women a day in the United States.

The jam will run from 5 to 11 p.m. at the Roxbury, 8225 Sunset Blvd. The $20 ticket covers six hours of music, information, art and food. Tickets are available at the door and through TicketMaster. to charge tickets by phone, call (213) 480-3232.
