Eddy Field; Realty Agent, Philanthropist
Eddy D. Field, realty agent, investor, community leader and philanthropist, has died at age 91.
He died Monday, associates announced Thursday.
Educated at USC, Field opened his Hollywood real estate and insurance business in 1927. He later diversified his firm to include investments and development.
He was a longtime benefactor of Pepperdine University, which gave him an honorary doctor of law degree in 1976. Over the years, he donated funds for the Eddy D. Field Baseball Stadium and the Helen Field Heritage Hall honoring his wife. He also served on the university’s board of directors.
Field served as chairman of the Los Angeles Salvation Army advisory board, president of the Apartment Assn. of Los Angeles County; was co-founder and board chairman of the Los Angeles Philanthropic Foundation, and was president of the Los Angeles Optimist Club.
He was a past master of the Henry Knox Masonic Lodge No. 662 and a life member of Al Malaikah Shrine Temple.
