LOS ANGELES : City Paid $45,000 Too Much for Elections, Audit Finds

Share

The city of Los Angeles paid at least $45,000 too much to conduct its municipal elections in April and June, 1993, according to an audit by the city controller’s office.

City Controller Rick Tuttle blamed most of the waste on the fact that 320 city employees--about one-quarter of election workers--were paid at 1 1/2 times their city salaries rather than the lower hourly rate paid to others.
