Firefighters battled two residential blazes Friday night and Saturday and managed to extinguish both before anyone was injured, authorities said.

The first fire broke out in the kitchen of an apartment in the 900 block of West Romneya Drive at 10:18 p.m. Friday and spread into the walls and attics of two other apartments, according to a Fire Department spokesman. Eighteen firefighters responded and the damage was estimated at $110,000.

Another fire was reported about 2:10 p.m. Saturday in a bedroom of a 1920s-era home in the 300 block of South East Street in the downtown area. The fire apparently started in a space heater and was contained to the bedroom area, according to Battalion Chief Roger Smith of the Anaheim Fire Department.

The four adults and two children who live in the home were temporarily forced to stay with relatives and friends, Smith said.

Damages were estimated at $15,000 to the home’s structure and $5,000 to its contents.
