Friends of a 6-year-old Granada Hills girl who was struck by a car in September and is just now coming out of a coma have planned a musical fund-raiser to help offset her medical costs.

The benefit for Mary Beth Holliday will be held Sunday at the Palomino, 6907 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood, and will feature 10 musical acts, including Ronnie Mack, Gary Eaton and Russell Scott and the Red Hots. The first act will appear at noon, with festivities lasting until 6 p.m.

A basketball autographed by Los Angeles Laker alumnus Elgin Baylor and tickets to Disneyland will be raffled. Admission is $10 at the door.

Mary Beth was walking across Debra Avenue about 9 a.m. Sept. 10 when she was hit by a speeding car. She was flown to Childrens Hospital in critical condition.

Clyde Blair, a friend of the family who witnessed the accident, is planning the fund-raiser with his wife, Debbie.

While the girl is still unable to speak, Blair called her recovery “a miracle in progress.”

“Each weekend we see her, it’s like she’s grown a year,” he said. “Last week she couldn’t crawl, this week she can walk.”

One of seven children of a single, working mother, Mary Beth was uninsured at the time of the accident, and proceeds from the concert will help offset medical and therapeutic costs.

Other contributions can be made to the Mary Beth Holliday Assistance Fund, 14120 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks 91423.
