Skieresz, Hernandez Voted Best Ventura County Runners

Eleazar Hernandez of Camarillo High and Amy Skieresz of Agoura have been selected Ventura County boys’ and girls’ cross-country runners of the year.
Hernandez, Southern Section Division I champion, finished second behind Keith O’Doherty of Thousand Oaks in the county championships, but he posted a 7-1 record against O’Doherty.
Skieresz, State Division II champion, won the award for the third consecutive time. She won her third consecutive county, Marmonte League and Southern Section titles this season.
Jack Farrell of Thousand Oaks and Ken Reeves of Nordhoff were named boys’ co-coaches of the year while Farrell, Reeves and Steve Blum of Buena shared the girls’ award.
Thousand Oaks’ boys won their second consecutive State Division I title and Nordhoff’s boys repeated as Division III champions. Thousand Oaks’ girls were runners-up in State Division I championships and Nordhoff was fourth in the Division III final. Buena won its 12th consecutive Channel League title.
