ANAHEIM — A Placentia man died early Saturday when the car he was driving slammed head-on into a retaining wall at Frontera Street near the Riverside Freeway, authorities said.
The victim was identified by coroner’s investigators as Mark Anton Veenhuyzen, 43. Anaheim paramedics, who reached the scene about 3:45 a.m., said Veenhuyzen had died on impact. He was alone in the car.
The initial investigation showed that he had been speeding north on Rio Vista Avenue, ran a stop sign at Frontera Street and crashed into the wall on the north side of the road, police said.
