Cold Snap Heats Up Sales: Chilly weekend weather gave apparel retailers a shot in the arm, stirring demand for winter clothing as the sprint to Christmas nears its finish, industry analysts said. Holiday sales had slowed at several large chains earlier this month as warm weather hit many areas. Some experts began to doubt forecasts of robust sales. But the cold front that blew through the Midwest and East last week jump-started apparel sales.
