Rose Ann Osmanian, Girl Scout, Fountain Valley

She was recently selected to serve on the National Task Group on the Study of the Democratic Process in Girl Scouting. The task group is an organizational team mandated by the National Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. Osmanian, a Girl Scout since 1982 and graduate of Fountain Valley High School, is one of 11 girls selected from the 2.5 million members nationwide.

The task force is responsible to the national board for carrying out a comprehensive two-year study of the total policy-making process in Girl Scout councils and the national organization, including the role and composition of the National Council, the Girl Scouts’ governing body. The task force is also responsible for developing recommendations for strengthening Girl Scouting’s democratic process.

Osmanian is an advisory member of the board of directors for the Girl Scout Council of Orange County.

She received a Girl Scout Silver Award, the organization’s second highest recognition, after organizing a presentation on astronomy at an event held for Daisy Girl Scout troops in her council.

Fredric J. Forster, President and chief operating officer of Home Savings of America and senior vice president of H.F. Ahmanson & Co.

Forster has been named Honorary Chairman of the Youth Employment Service’s Building Fund Drive. This is a major fund drive launched by the Youth Employment Service of the Harbor area to provide a permanent home for present and expanded services available to youth.

Forster has 20 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Robert Sigmon, Artist, Huntington Beach

Honored for his original oil paintings, many of which focus on early scenes of Huntington Beach. His “Early Beginnings” won a Juror’s Choice Award and his “Talk About Town” won a Special Award at this year’s Orange County Fair. Both oil paintings depict scenes in the year 1910 at the corner of Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway.

Sigmon’s artworks include paintings of the historic Newland House and one depicting “Red Car-1904.” The painting is on display in the Building Department at City Hall.

Sigmon, 64, grew up in Decatur, Ill., and started drawing in junior high school. He is a 24-year Huntington Beach employee and works as a planner-draftsman.

Sigmon is active in the Huntington Beach Art League.

He hopes his work will be displayed at the Huntington Beach Art Center when it opens next year.
