THOUSAND OAKS : Transient Arrested in Man’s Shooting
Thousand Oaks police arrested a man Tuesday on suspicion of attempted murder when he returned to the scene of his alleged crime.
Police said they arrested 27-year-old Dane Lee Perry in the back yard of a house in the 2100 block of Calle Camelia, where he allegedly shot Craig Moran on Saturday.
Moran, 38, of Thousand Oaks, had gone to the home of his estranged wife Saturday to pick up some belongings, police said. Moran and his wife argued, and Perry intervened, shooting Moran in the right thigh, police said.
Perry, described by authorities as a transient, fled from the house but returned Tuesday, police said. They found out that Perry had returned when an anonymous tipster called the Crime Stoppers line.
Moran was in stable condition Tuesday night at Los Robles Regional Medical Center.
