Pearl Jam Rules

KROQ’s Christmas tape, “No Toys For O.J.,” wiped out nearly all the competition on the Times’ Southern California pop album chart, debuting at No. 2. It wasn’t quite up to the Pearl Jam challenge though, with that group’s “Vitalogy” resoundingly topping the chart. The KROQ tape sold 42,000 copies (proceeds go to charity), which was also good enough to place it at No. 57 on the national chart. Available only at Wherehouse outlets and priced at just $1.67, the tape is a combination of Christmas songs and celebrity chit-chat with DJs Kevin and Bean.
