The 16-year-old Saddleback College Summer Stock Company has changed its name to create a higher profile. It is now called the Saddleback Civic Light Opera, according to producer Geoffrey English.
English said the summer-stock program has presented more than 50 musicals for the past nine seasons. Although most have been Broadway revivals, they also have included off-Broadway shows and two original revues: “Stardust” and “Jumpin’, Jive and Jitterbug.”
SCLO also has announced its 1995 summer season: “Beehive” (June 10-25), billed as a county premiere; “Nunsense II” (July 7-23), and “Guys and Dolls” (Aug. 4-20).
All three productions, with casts made up mostly of college actors and a few professionals, will be staged on campus at Saddleback’s 400-seat McKinney Theatre in Mission Viejo. (714) 582-4763.
