Re “Fire Chief Apologizes for Portrayal of Video,” Dec. 14:
Rather than investigating whether Chief Donald Manning and the Los Angeles Fire Department were making a “blooper” tape or just trying to “cover their burros,” Fire Commissioner Leslie Song Winner should be concerning herself with a far more serious problem. Winner, the entire Fire Commission and even The Times should be trying to find out if any of those physically inept persons, of whatever gender or ethnic persuasion, depicted in the infamous video have slipped through the drafty cracks of affirmative action and are now sitting in a fire station, an accident waiting to happen.
