Transamerica Occidental Has New President: The Los Angeles life insurance company named John A. Fibiger to the post. He succeeds David R. Carpenter. Fibiger will continue to serve as chief financial officer until his successor is appointed. Carpenter, who has assumed additional responsibilities with the insurer’s parent, Transamerica Corp., remains chairman and chief executive of Transamerica Occidental.
