Bible Classes Should Focus on Studies

Share

Most of your article on Bible study groups organized by high school students (“Faith on Their Time,” Dec. 7) gave me a very good feeling about the future of our teen-agers. You described youths taking positive steps to examine the fundamentals of their religion.

However, the end of the article gave me very negative feelings. You described how the students want to bring the gospel to other teens through a missionary effort.

I object to any use of public schools as a place to organize the conversion of children away from whatever religion their parents practice. This is using facilities built and maintained with taxes collected from persons of all religious beliefs (and of no beliefs).

This practice is harmful to all religions that are different from that of the Bible students. School administrators must immediately direct the Bible study clubs to refrain from proselytizing.
