MOORPARK : Howard to Honor Library Donors

Share

Supervisor Vicky Howard on Tuesday will unveil a plaque at the Moorpark Library in appreciation of the dozens of people who donated money to pay for the library’s expansion.

The campaign to expand the library is still about $10,000 short of its $421,000 goal, said Barbara Loczi, a Howard aide.

Howard made getting money for the library one of her last goals before leaving office at the end of the year, Loczi said. The supervisor helped set up the Moorpark telethon that raised $35,000.

Due in part to Howard’s efforts, last spring Ventura County pledged to pay $260,000 for the expansion and the city of Moorpark contributed $65,000. In addition, a bequest of about $5,000 from a former librarian, a pledge of $18,000 in services from the city and $28,000 in time and money from local businesses brought the amount raised to about $410,000, Loczi said.

At Tuesday’s ceremony, scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Howard will present the plaque, which names about 30 donors who gave $250 or more for the expansion project.

A list of all the donors will be provided at the ceremony.
