USC offensive coordinator Mike Riley, after a whirlwind visit to Nashville, Tenn., Wednesday night, said he hasn’t been offered the head coaching job at Vanderbilt.

The school’s athletic director, Paul Hoolahan, had asked Riley to fly to Nashville to meet university officials.

“I was on an 8 p.m. flight and I was back (in Dallas) after midnight,” a red-eyed Riley said Thursday. “The hard part was being at our 7 a.m. offensive meeting this morning.”

“I wasn’t offered anything. . . . They’re talking to some other guys too.”

Tony Boselli, USC’s 6-foot-8, 320-pound offensive tackle, said he felt like going into the Coliseum stands when the Nov. 26 Notre Dame game ended.

Moments after the 17-17 tie, during the traditional final tributes to departing seniors, some in the crowd booed Rob Johnson, departing USC quarterback.

Boselli, Johnson’s roommate, said the booing “made me sick--it hurt me, personally.

“I felt like going up there after them and strangling about 90% of them. It was so unfair to do that at that moment, after the great career he had.”
