Don’t waste your time asking Miami Coach Dennis Erickson about the Hurricanes’ national championship hopes.

As far as Erickson is concerned, the only way Miami wins a title is if the Hurricanes defeat Nebraska on Sunday and Oregon somehow upsets Penn State on Monday at the Rose Bowl.

“If Penn State wins . . . it’s hard to argue with an undefeated team right now,” said Erickson, using the Nebraska loses-Oregon loses formula. “(If I were undefeated) I’d be upset if I didn’t win a national championship.”
