GETTING HIS DUE
Down in South Florida, fifth-year senior Frank Costa has taken almost as many bruising blows off the field as on. Sunday morning quarterbacks cringed for the past two seasons watching Costa guide the Hurricanes.
“I’m not bitter toward the school or the fans,” Costa said after losing to Nebraska in the Orange Bowl in his final game. “I really don’t care what people say. I’ll hold my head up high. I’ve got nothing to be ashamed of.”
Still, when Miami faithful reminisce, they will talk about Jim Kelly, Bernie Kosar, Steve Walsh, Vinny Testaverde and Gino Torretta.
Costa will be regarded as an afterthought.
