Reward Offered in Jewelry Store Theft

A reward is being offered for information about the theft of $40,000 worth of wedding rings and other jewelry from a store in The Oaks mall.

The theft occurred about 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Dejaun Jewelers. According to sheriff’s deputies, two males and a woman opened a display case and removed 15 pieces of jewelry, most of which were diamond rings.

Sgt. Kitty Hoberg said that the store was crowded and that the clerk was distracted at the time of the theft. Deputies have no suspects, but the individuals involved were filmed by a security camera.

Witnesses said one of the males appeared to be in his 30s; the other appeared to be 16 or 17. Both were wearing button-up sweat jackets with hoods. The woman had a large build with dark hair and was wearing a white raincoat.

Ventura County Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and the filing of a criminal complaint. Callers may remain anonymous.
