CERRITOS : Contest Under Way for City Flag Design

Share

The City Council is sponsoring a contest to design the first official city flag to fly above City Hall and other municipal buildings.

City officials said they are looking for simple artwork so the flag can be identified from long distances and produced at a reasonable cost.

Only original designs will be considered. Computer-generated work is permitted as long as copyrighted images are not used.

Entrants must either live, work or attend school in Cerritos. Contest applications and detailed rules will be inserted in the Feb. 3 edition of the city newsletter, which is sent to homes and businesses. All work must be submitted by March 15.

The city’s cultural affairs office will review the submissions and bring the best entries to the council, which is expected to select a winner in early spring. The winner will receive $500.
