CULVER CITY : Man Who Allegedly Shot Officer Arrested in Denver
A 29-year-old man accused of wounding a Culver City police officer in February has been arrested in Denver, officials said.
Philip W. Perry, special agent in charge of the federal Drug Enforcement Administration’s Rocky Mountain Field Division, said Harold Eugene Taylor was arrested Wednesday on an outstanding warrant from the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Taylor is accused of shooting Culver City Police Officer Travis Marshall on Feb. 19, 1994, while Marshall and another officer were responding to an armed robbery. Marshall was shot in the neck while chasing a suspect on foot and suffered permanent damage to his vocal cords. He is back on duty, officials said.
Perry said a Culver City police officer and a district attorney’s office investigator came to Denver on Tuesday after obtaining information that Taylor was there. A DEA team joined in the search for Taylor, Perry said.
He and a man identified as Silvester Chambers, 24, of Gardena were arrested after officers pulled over their car on Interstate 25.
