VENTURA : Armed Bandit Robs Liquor Store-Deli

Share

An armed robber held up two brothers working as clerks at a Ventura liquor store and deli, making off with an unknown amount of money, police said Tuesday.

The clerks, George and Jim Dabbous, were not hurt in the robbery, and an arrest has not yet been made, Ventura Police Sgt. Bob Anderson said.

At 9:50 p.m. Monday, the thief walked into the College Liquor & Deli at 4220 Telegraph Road, pulled a black revolver from his coat and told the clerks to lie down, police said. He then fled with money from the cash register.

This was the first time the store had been robbed, a clerk at the store said Tuesday.

“We just get these robberies now and again,” Anderson said. “It’s not all that unusual for them to happen. Fortunately, nobody was hurt.”

Police described the suspect as a white male in his early 30s, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a medium build, short, black curly hair and a slight mustache. He was wearing a green, waist-length jacket and dark jeans.
