Countywide : Governor Reappoints Student Aid Official

Gov. Pete Wilson has reappointed Michael Steven Carona of Orange to the California Student Aid Commission.

Carona, 39, has served since 1987 on the commission, which administers financial assistance programs for college and post-secondary school students.

Carona is an Orange County marshal. He joined the marshal’s office as a deputy in 1976, becoming a lieutenant in 1985 and a marshal in 1989.

Carona holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in management from the University of Redlands. He also earned a master of science degree in management from Cal Poly Pomona.

Members of the Student Aid Commission do not receive salaries. Commission appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
