RIVERSIDE — More than two tons of cocaine--with a street value estimated at more than $113 million--was seized at two San Bernardino County locations, authorities announced Thursday.
Nearly half the cocaine was found at a Fontana residence and the rest was recovered at a business in Bloomington, said San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy Cheryl Huff. Agents also seized 76 pounds of marijuana in the raids, which occurred Wednesday.
Agents with the Inland Regional Narcotic Enforcement Team arrested four suspects on suspicion of transportation and possession of cocaine for sale. They were being held on $5 million bail each.
Huff identified the suspects, all from Mexico, as Jose Castro Torrez, 23; Melchor Luna Montoya, 24; Ponciano Ochoa Romero, 50, and Martin Luna Montoya, 31.
A total of 4,124 pounds of cocaine was seized in the two raids, with a wholesale value of $28.5 million and a street value four times that, Huff said.
