The Westminster Redevelopment Agency spent nearly $1 million last year for various housing projects. The state requires that 20% of redevelopment funds be set aside for affordable housing.

The agency loaned out $383,000 to help 27 families buy their first homes, spent $115,000 to rehabilitate 41 senior citizens’ mobile homes and approved loans totaling more than $307,000 to help improve 14 single-family homes.

In addition, the agency granted more than $95,000 for the rehabilitation of two three-unit apartment buildings and leased four apartment buildings to the nonprofit Shelter for the Homeless for $1 a year each.
