Kobe Quake and Aid to Be Discussed at UCI
Community members, students, staff members and instructors are invited to attend a meeting at UC Irvine to discuss response to the earthquake last week in Japan.
The presentation Friday will provide information on the earthquake’s damage and how relief efforts are progressing, said Randy Lewis, director of student activities at UCI.
Organizers hope the meeting will help provide emotional support and a gathering place for people whose families and friends were in the earthquake, which took more than 5,000 lives.
Representatives of the American Red Cross and the Japanese Consulate have been invited to participate, Lewis said. The gathering will be from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Emerald Bay C Room of the UCI Student Center at Bridge Road and Pereira Drive.
