Arizona State had been behind by as many as 13 points, but had come back to be where it usually is when it plays in Corvallis--in front and waiting for Oregon State to wilt.

But then the 13th-ranked Sun Devils went as cold as a January night and Oregon State went on a 16-0 run to an 83-70 upset victory in a Pacific 10 game.

Brent Barry scored 29 points for the Beavers (5-10, 2-4), who had built a big first-half lead, only to fritter it away.

Arizona State (13-5, 3-3) was led by Mario Bennett, who scored 23 points, including two on an inbounds play that tied the score, 45-45, with 14:22 to play.

The Sun Devils took a 53-50 lead on James Bacon’s three-point play, then made it 55-52, but missed eight shots and didn’t score on 13 consecutive possessions.

No. 12 Arizona 97, No. 18 Oregon 89--Damon Stoudamire scored 28 points and had six three-point baskets for the Wildcats, who handed Oregon its first home loss this season.

Stoudamire, who grew up in Portland, had promised Arizona (14-4, 4-2) would sweep two Pacific 10 games in his home state this week and his long-range shooting to a chorus of boos in Eugene got him halfway to his goal.

Ray Owes scored 13 of his 17 points in the second half as Arizona dominated the game inside in its eighth consecutive victory over Oregon (12-3, 4-2).

No. 19 Cincinnati 81, Dayton 60--Darnell Burton scored all of his 11 points in a 19-2 game-opening run that swept the Bearcats to their seventh victory in a row.

No. 24 New Mexico State 75, San Jose State 66--Rodney Walker made all three of his three-point shots and scored 20 points in leading the Aggies (14-4, 5-2) to a Big West victory at home.
