Legends of Hollywood restaurant in Studio City has added a new executive chef, Giancarlo Lorio, formerly the chef of Marcello Ristorante in Thousand Oaks.

The European-trained Lorio, who has also worked at La Loggia in Studio City, Fontana di Trevi Ristorante in Woodland Hills, and other Southern California restaurants, is known for his sauces, Italian specialties and his presentations, says Legends owner Bob Marks. Lorio will work in tandem with chef Kelo Amaya. Marks says Lorio has redone his lunch menu to include Italian specialties exclusively.

Thirteen Italian dishes are available for lunch 11:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, ranging from $6.50 for grilled mixed vegetables to $11.95 for the fish of the day prepared with tomato, garlic and basil. Several pasta items are also included. Some of those Italian dishes will be available for dinner each day as well.

MORE CLUCK

There’s a new bird in town looking to feather its nest.

Boston Rotisserie Chicken, which opened in Van Nuys on Jan. 15, has joined the seemingly endless collection of chicken fast-food places available to Valley poultry eaters.

The Van Nuys branch is the first in L.A. County for the chain, which has more than 537 stores in 28 states and the District of Columbia.

Appropriately enough, Boston Chicken started in a Beantown suburb in 1985. The company is now headquartered in Golden, Colo.

With the slogan “The Freshest Thing Going,” Boston Chicken sells individual meals with a quarter-chicken and two side dishes and corn bread for $3.99 for dark meat and $4.99 for white meat. A half-chicken meal is $5.99. Family meals range from $12.99 to $23.99, depending on the number served. Side dishes include baked beans, mashed potatoes, stuffing, zucchini marinara and cranberry walnut relish. Other entrees include chicken salad, chicken sandwich, chicken soup and chicken pot pie, each for less than $5. The store also offers a child’s plate with a drumstick, side dish and corn bread for $2.49.

AT THE DOOR

The Star Cafe in Woodland Hills, which opened in October, now offers home delivery.

Paul Guzman, the restaurant’s general manager, says the cafe started the delivery service just after New Year’s. He says the restaurant’s entire menu is available for delivery, although he acknowledged that some dishes may not stand up to the rigors of delivery.

The cafe offers free delivery within a three-mile radius of the restaurant on a $10 minimum order.

The Star Cafe offers salads, pizzas, calzones, pastas and pizza bread sandwiches, as well as oven-roasted and grilled items. Prices range from $4.50 for a half portion of one of five pasta dishes to $12.95 for shrimp scampi. Pizzas range from $6.95 for a tomato-basil pie to $8.95 for one made with roast chicken.
