NHL ROUNDUP : Hot Penguins Defeat Struggling Rangers
- Share via
The Pittsburgh Penguins continued their best start in eight years and the New York Rangers’ early-season frustration, turning Chris Joseph’s go-ahead goal in the third period into a 4-3 victory Wednesday night at Pittsburgh.
The Penguins are 6-0, while the Stanley Cup champion Rangers are 2-5 and are already in a precarious position in this lockout-shortened 48-game season.
Jaromir Jagr was held without a point for the first time in 15 games dating to last season, but the Penguins’ Ken Wregget again was strong in goal to win his sixth in a row in place of the injured Tom Barrasso.
