HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER ROUNDUP : Granada Hills Catches Chatsworth by Surprise

Goals by Jon-Paul Ropke and Omar Perez gave Granada Hills a 2-1 upset of Chatsworth in a Northwest Valley Conference boys’ soccer match Thursday at Chatsworth.

Perez scored the game-winner a minute before halftime with assists from Doug Paul and Ropke. Bobby Gramacy made seven saves for the Highlanders (7-11-1, 3-9-1).

Willie Leon scored for Chatsworth (16-5-1, 8-4-1) and goalie Guy Klein had eight saves.

Reseda 2, Poly 0--Alex Acevedo scored in the eighth minute and William Diaz in the 60th for the Regents (20-2-5, 12-0-4) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference victory over the Parrots.

North Hollywood 8, Sherman Oaks CES 2--David Harlow scored three goals and Eddie Mendoza and Juver Urbina each scored two for the Huskies (8-4-2, 4-1-2) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference victory.

Mynor Moreno and Rudy Zermeno scored for Sherman Oaks (0-16, 0-16).

GIRLS

Grant 0, Palisades 0--The Lancers (11-4-1, 11-0-1) clinched the Mid-Valley/North Conference title at Palisades.

Despite eight shots by high-scoring striker Nicole Bucciarelli, Grant was unable to solve Dolphin goalie Jasmine Zargarpour, who made 21 saves including several on spectacular dives.

La Reina 3, Bishop Diego 2--Aimee Thompson scored twice in the first half and Tina Onsgard scored eight minutes into the second half as the Regents (17-2-1, 9-0) clinched their fifth consecutive Tri-Valley League title.

Jennifer La Femina made four saves for La Reina, ranked second in the Southern Section’s Division IV rankings.

Bishop Diego was outshot, 16-6, and was held to one shot in the second half.

Buena 12, Oxnard 1--Sarah McLennan scored three goals and Megan Munday, Monica Almaraz and Jennifer Alderman each scored two as the Bulldogs (24-2-2, 14-0) trounced the Yellowjackets (1-18, 1-13) in a Channel League match.

Kristina Quiroz, Allyson Munday and Jennifer Nelson also scored for Buena, which has won back-to-back Channel League championships.

Chatsworth 12, Kennedy 0--Brianna Preis scored three goals and Kim Pickup and Pam George each scored two as the Chancellors (14-1-1, 11-0) routed the Golden Cougars in a West Valley Conference match.

Liz Gonzalez, Michele George, Melinda George, Rachel Yaffe and Denise Paul also scored for Chatsworth.

Tawni Takati had to make only one save to get her shutout.

Crescenta Valley 7, Pasadena 0--Heidi Greco scored her 18th, 19th and 20th goals and the Falcons (17-1-3, 9-0-1) routed the Bulldogs in a Pacific League match.

Elizabeth Torkington, Stephanie Rigamat, Kelly Hom and Kacey Rountree also scored.

Santa Paula 3, Calabasas 1--Jessica Armacost scored her first goal of the season but the Coyotes (4-7-6, 3-4) fell to the Cardinals in overtime.

Kelly Cheever made 12 saves for Calabasas.
