A 50-year-old West Hills woman died Friday when her car was broadsided at the intersection of Tampa Avenue and Kittridge Street, smashing it into a utility pole, police said.

The woman, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Officer Roger Stewart of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.

Police would not identify the woman pending notification of her family.

Stewart said it is unclear if the driver of the other vehicle will be cited for her role in the incident. Denese Brown, 25, of Camarillo, was attempting a left turn when her vehicle smashed into the victim’s car, Stewart said.

Police have determined that alcohol was not a factor in the collision, Stewart said.
