Grant High had already bagged the Valley Pac-8 Conference boys’ basketball championship, but neighborhood rival North Hollywood won back some bragging rights Friday night.

Stanford-bound guard Arthur Lee had 27 points and the Huskies made 49% of their shots for a 62-55 victory in the regular-season finale.

The Lancers (16-7, 8-2) beat North Hollywood in double overtime at Grant nine days earlier.

The Huskies (14-9, 7-3) clinched a tie for second place with Monroe.

“Since that double-overtime loss, we’ve been anticipating this,” said Lee, who made four three-point baskets, including two in a row as North Hollywood went on a 14-3 run to take control of the game at the end of the third quarter.

“We just got fired up and had a good time.”

Grant guard Ronald Patterson, who came in averaging 23.4 points to lead the conference, finished with 24--making three three-point shots and all six of his free throws.

With the score tied, 37-37, in the third quarter, Lee sent Grant reeling when he floated in successive three-pointers. He had 10 points in the 14-3 run that gave the Huskies a 51-40 edge going to the fourth quarter. Shannon Johnson, who finished with 14, had the other four.

Grant cut the lead to three with 2:53 left, but Lee answered with a layup, and two Lancer turnovers were cashed in for four more North Hollywood points.

Taj Rollins had 13 points for Grant, including his team’s first seven.
