HUNTINGTON PARK : Man Slain While Trying to Help Robbery Victim

A 24-year-old Los Angeles man was shot to death after he tried to help a woman being robbed at gunpoint, police said Monday. Oscar Beltran intervened when saw a woman being held up by a man with a gun about 8 p.m. Sunday in the 3400 block of Grand Avenue, according to sheriff’s deputies. Beltran was shot in the chest and the suspect fled in a dark-colored vehicle.
Beltran was pronounced dead on arrival to Martin Luther King-Drew Medical Center, hospital officials said. The woman, whose name was not released, was unharmed.
