The Montreal Canadiens stayed unbeaten at home but continued to struggle on offense in a 2-2 tie with the Hartford Whalers on Monday.
Paul DiPietro late goal produced the tie for the Canadiens, who are 3-0-2 at home but were booed because of their lack of offense. Montreal has scored only three goals in two games since trading three players to Philadelphia for forward Mark Recchi in an attempt to get more scoring.
Recchi has assisted on all three goals.

St. Louis 4, Calgary 2--Rookies Patrice Tardif and Ian Laperriere scored goals at St. Louis as the Blues stopped a three-game winless streak.
Toronto 4, Chicago 2--Mats Sundin scored his eighth and ninth goals for the Maple Leafs in a victory at home.
It was the final game of an eight-game trip for the Blackhawks, who went 6-2 and outscored opponents, 37-16, in the process.
