Aviation: Yeager to Help Inaugurate Walk of Fame
An aviation walk of fame will be inaugurated in Westchester Central Business District in a ceremony next month.
The event, hosted by Brig. Gen. Charles E. Yeager, the first man to fly faster than the speed of sound, will mark the opening of Flight Path, a sidewalk display of plaques, memorabilia and art on aerospace history. Flight Path is the first phase of a project to build an aerospace learning center adjacent to LAX.
Yeager and eight other aviation pioneers, including Amelia Earhart, Howard Hughes and Charles Lindbergh, will be honored in plaques.
A ceremony is scheduled 10:30 a.m. March 16 at 89th Street and Sepulveda Boulevard in Westchester. The event is open to the public.
