Dave Stockton took a two-shot lead early, then waited for a field that couldn’t challenge in the final round of the Senior PGA Tour’s GTE Suncoast Classic on Sunday.

Stockton holed out an 80-yard sand wedge shot for an eagle on the fifth hole, then added two birdies and parred the last nine holes for his 68 that gave him a three-day total of 204 at the Tournament Players Club of Tampa Bay.

Jim Colbert, Bob Charles and J.C. Snead stayed two shots behind and shared second place. Jack Nicklaus, Simon Hobday and Bruce Lehnhard were another shot back.

“I can’t believe nobody made a move at me,” said Stockton after his 10th PGA Senior Tour victory. “When I made the eagle, I said, ‘Well boys, you’ve got to come get me now,’ and I figured they would.”

Australian Peter Senior won his second Australian Masters golf championship at Melbourne, shooting a final-round 69 to finish with a 12-under-par 280 to hold off Tom Watson, Wayne Grady and Lucas Parsons by a stroke.
