BREA — Up to 800 runners are expected to participate in the Brea 8-K Classic Road Race, which will get underway at 8 a.m. Sunday at the Brea Mall. Serving as official starter for the event will be former USC track star and Olympian Roland Sink.
Proceeds from this “fun run” will support the academic, track and field, and cross country booster clubs at Brea-Olinda High School.
Last year, the men’s open division was won by Valencia High School cross country coach Joey Gomez, who turned in a time of 24 minutes and 36 seconds. The women’s open division was won last year by former Olympian Ruth Wysocki, whose time was 29 minutes and 20 seconds.
On-site registration for the 8-K will begin at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at Brea Mall, Birch Street and State College Boulevard. The $18 entry fee includes payment for a commemorative T-shirt.
